SPW Year End Rankings

SteeltownProWrestling.ca has compiled a year end ranking consisting of every person we could think of that stepped into an SPW ring in 2012.

1. Jethro Hawg – SPW Heavyweight Champion

Jethro Hawg scores the No.1 Ranking as the current SPW Heavyweight Champion and winner of the annual Red River Rumble and Kerry Brown Memorial Tournament. He scored a number of victories over the likes of Kevy Chevy, MARIUS, Rob Stardom and James Beaver just to name a few.

2. “Really Crazy” Rob Stardom – No.1 Contender

Rob Stardom enters in at No.2 after epic battles with Honky Tonk Man, Robbie McAllister, Jethro Hawg and a recent victory in the 2nd annual Christmas Battle Bowl. He was a finalist in the Kerry Brown Memorial Tournament and briefly held the SPW Heavyweight Championship. Stardom was also featured on Global TV and SHAW TV over the course of the year.

3. SYKO – SPW Tag Team Champion

SYKO held the SPW Tag Team Championship for the better of the year except for a brief period between September and November. The 3-time SPW Tag Team Champion and former SPW Provincial Champion has never had his shoulder pinned and has never been submitted in well over a year, an amazing accomplish given the level of competition seen amongst SPW ranks in 2012.

4. “Extreme Luchadore” La Sombra

La Sombra was SPW Heavyweight Champion from January to September before dropping the championship in the semi-finals of the Kerry Brown Memorial Tournament. He appeared in a number of memorable main events throughout the year against the likes of Spanky, Moses Luke, Kevy Chevy, James Beaver, Rob Stardom and Jethro Hawg including forming a tag team with former WWE Superstar Robbie McAllister. La Sombra’s unprecedented success in 2011 carried over well into 2012.

5. MARIUS – SPW Provincial Champion

MARIUS became a 2-time SPW Provincial Champion in 2012, battled the likes of Honky Tonk Man and Robbie McAllister and wrestled across Canada in Newfoundland, Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta. MARIUS was also featured on Global TV and several newspapers including the Winnipeg Sun.

6. “Misfit” Mike Mission

Mike Mission continued to rise through the ranks by capturing the SPW Provincial, AIWF Canadian and SPW Tag Team Championships in 2012. The former graduate of the SPW Training Academy has established himself as an effective tag team and singles competitor.

7. James Beaver

James Beaver began his ascent in the rankings early in the year with main event matches against La Sombra. He continued to establish himself as a main event player during the Kerry Brown Memorial Tournament which led to main events and championship matches against reigning champion Jethro Hawg. It seems as though 2013 could be a banner year for the British wrestling sensation.

8. “Hardcore Kid” Chip Fletcher – SPW Hardcore Champion

Chip Fletcher’s singles wrestling career was renewed after he became the inaugural SPW Hardcore Champion. Since then Fletcher re-christened himself the “Hardcore Kid” and dominated the division winning the championship a total of 3 times after memorable 4-way and 6-way matches including an plunder filled main event against Kevy Chevy in his hometown of Arborg.

9. Reggie Gallagher

Reggie Gallagher re-established himself in SPW throughout 2012 after the demise of the Bad to the Bone tag team he formed with Cliff Corleone.
